It’s easy to forget that Audi’s A8 is one of the few mass-production motor cars constructed largely from aluminium. But German tuner MTM has provided an awesome reminder with this stripped-down-and-polished A8 for a customer in Dubai.

The new S8 may not be the fastest uber saloon in the world, but it’s probably the coolest. And with a rejigged Lambo lump under the hood, it’s definitely the only one any self-respecting car junky should lust after.

After the petrol power wars comes the diesel, er, deathmatch. Audi has seen Merc’s four-litre 314bhp Derv V8 and raised it a 322bhp 4.2-litre oil-burning lump. Which is just as well: we simply don’t get out of bed for less than 300bhp these days.
