That Porsche is the world’s most profitable car company is not news. But can the German sports car outfit really be banking $28,000 (£14,000) with every car sold? That’s what the analysts at B&D Forecast reckon…

Porsche, if you’ve somehow failed to notice, is in rude health. The latest symptom of the German sports car outfit’s magnificent malaise is the announcement that the 200,000th Boxster roadster has rolled off the production line. The company is currently knocking them out at a rate of around 27,000 a year, significantly up on the 15,000 unit volume Porsche had originally hoped for way back in 1996 when the Boxster was launched…

Porsche’s pricing structure has just gone from perplexing to downright preposterous. The Stuttgart-based sports car manufacturer has announced plans to upgrade the Boxster rag-top with engines from its tin-top sibling, the Cayman coupe. The result? Porsche is now asking customers to fork out a £6,000 premium for an open-top 911 at the same time as flogging Boxsters for thousands less than fixed-roof Caymans…

Purity and grace personified. Not words we’d immediately associate with the second gen Boxster. Especially not compared with the pretty and petite original Boxster prototype of 1993. Suffice to say that it will rape your wallet to the tune of €4,060 in Germany as an optional extra at the point of purchase. Existing owners can partake of this arguable aesthetic awesomeness for just €3,422, plus fitting charges…

Could Porsche be planning a cheap-as-chips, stripped-out roadster based on the Boxster platform? The internet is abuzz with reports that US rag Road & Track has outted just such a story. But don’t get too excited, it’s just R&T shooting the breeze…

The Porsche Boxster is fabulous machine. If there’s another (relatively) affordable sports car engineered from the ground up by a world class performance car manufacturer, well, we’re not aware of it. But it is a little bit girly. Not any more. German tuner Techart has released the first images of its new badboy, widebodied Boxster.

Porsche is currently buffing up a tin-top respin of its madly popular Boxster sportscar. On that we can all agree. After all, every magazine and website in Christendom has been hawking spy shots of the damn thing.
