Dodge preps cheaper Challenger

Of marginal relevance to we long suffering right-hand drivers, Dodge has announced a more affordable version of its shiny new Challenger muscle car. Full speeds and feeds have yet to be divulged, but the cheaper models will pack less powerful V6 and V8 lumps than the flagship SRT8 model. And of course, pricing for the new pairing, known as the Challenger SE and R/T respectively, will be well south of the SRT8’s $40k sticker. Think mid-range Ford Focus money for a rear-drive muscle machine and you probably won’t be far off…

Dodge Challenger for $30k?

It may be speculation based upon supposition. But it’s still an intriguing suggestion. Could the Dodge Challenger go on sale in 2008 for just $30,000? The information comes courtesy of a Chrysler promotion in the US known as the “Ask Dr Z” sweepstakes (the doctor in this case being the moustachioed Dr Dieter Zetsche of DaimlerChrysler). Challenger concept is go for production

Chrysler Group President and CEO Tom LaSorda is the man on the trigger with the official word on the Dodge Challenger concept: It’s go for 2008. LaSorda dropped this widely anticipated bomb at the Pepsi 400 NASCAR race at Daytona over the weekend. The last of the original Challengers may have rolled off the production line way back in 1974, but with punters apparently going potty for the Challenger show car, a series production announcement was inevitable…

Dodge Challenger: Will they, won’t they…

Innovative the Dodge Challenger concept shown at Detroit most certainly was not. After all, producing shamelessly retro recreations of former favourites seems to be the only trick designers at America’s Big Three automakers have up their sleeves. But what the hell, it’s a great looking car. Will Chrysler build it?

Chrysler knocks up Roles for proles (and an old school muscle car)

Leaked images of the Dodge Challenger have been doing the rounds for several weeks. So, these first official pics simply confirm what was already known. The Challenger concept is a real looker. But it’s not the only show car based on the 300C chassis that DaimlerChrysler will be wheeling out at the Detroit show. The Chrysler Imperial concept will also be competing for attention from press and punters alike. And it’s not an unsubtle copy of the Rolls Royce Phantom. Umm-kay?
