Caparo T1 hyper-car is go in Monaco

A power to weight ratio of 1,000bhp per tonne. A scarcely believable all-in kerb weight of 500kg. Zero to sixty mph in just 2.5 seconds. And a shopping car-busting fuel consumption rating of 32.5mpg. That’s the Caparo T1, on paper a little bit nippy and now apparently a reality following an unveiling ceremony yesterday in Monaco conducted by none other than His Serene Highness Prince Albert II. Previously known as the Freestream T1, this most hyper of supercars now has backing from Caparo Plc, a multinational corporation that supplies car parts to manufacturers across the globe. F1 for the road: Freestream T1

An F1 car for the road? It’s the sort of clichéd, showbiz idea that true car junkies sneer at. Right? Probably, but it’s awfully hard not to get just a little excited at the prospect of the Freestream T1. It’s designed by a pair of former McLaren F1 engineers. It’s claimed to pack a power to weight ratio of around 1,000bhp per tonne. And it’s simply sexier than a large sex pie.
