Great car, the Gallardo. But thanks to that four-wheel drivetrain, most think it’s a little too safe and secure to be a classic Lambo. That all-weather tackle also helps to push the car’s kerbweight over the 1,500kg mark. What we really want is an edgier, lighter, rear-wheel-drive-only Gallardo. And that’s exactly what we’re going to get, according to Lamborghini’s head Honcho Stephan Winkelmann.

A cut-price Lamborghini Gallardo powered by the 4.2-litre, 414bhp V8 found in the Audi RS4 is on the cards. The really interesting bit is that the car will be rear rather than four-wheel-drive as for all current Gallardos. Better late than never…
