Ahead of its official public unveiling at the Paris auto show, VW has fired off images and initial technical details for the refreshed Touran compact MPV. It’s largely a cosmetic effort that involves grafting VW’s latest, more rounded and organic corporate protruding nasal implement onto the rather boxy and dowdy Touran…

A depressing double dose of dreary driving dynamics coupled with the humbling realisation that your filth-'n-fungus-infested family ride is about as foxy as a used colostomy bag. That’s MPV ownership for you. But if your over-active loins have boxed you into a people carrier-shaped corner, you may as well salvage some self respect by bagging the best of the breed. It’s not often that a great looking concept survives the transition to production without the combined kill-joys of corporate bean counters and safety regulations reducing it to a feeble simulcrum of the original. But Mazda has released the first pictures and details of the MX-7 crossover vehicle. And it’s near-as-dammit identical to the MX-Crossport concept shown at the Detroit show in January.
