Hardly a startling revelation given the uniformly rave reviews Nissan’s
new road warrior has won. But it seems punters are a plumpin' for the
new GT-R uber coupe in large numbers. No fewer than 700 orders were
placed within 48 hours of the 473bhp brute going on sale in the UK.
With production numbers strictly limited, if you haven’t
placed your order yet, you’ll be in for a long wait. Still, at least it
proves the environmental lobby, $100-a-barrel oil and hysteria in
global financial markets hasn’t done for the high performance,
yet…

First demoed at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this summer, Nissan’s supercharged 350Z GT-S concept has been given the green light for a limited production run. Just like the standard Z, this 375bhp mean machine is a conspicuous bargain. It’s expected to go on sale for £36,000…

We want something new, something different…thanks to the Nissan QASHQAI something different has arrived. You need never drive a boring car again.” So, says Nissan about its new compact crossover, designed and built in the UK. Uh huh…

It’s Thursday and that can only mean one thing. Yup, it’s industry news day, complete with fabulous fiscal flights of fancy and an assortment of additional alliterative articulations…Well, that and riding out the clock until Friday. And hell, Friday’s as good as Saturday. And Saturday’s the weekend. But we digress. On June 30th Kirk Kerkorian, the metrically monikered money bags who holds a 9.9 per cent stake in bankrupt pension fu… sorry, motor manufacturer GM formally tabled a proposal for a grand alliance between Nissan, Renault and GM…

Nissan has gone public with images and full technical specifications for the upcoming 350Z GT-S concept. Based on the standard 350Z and produced in the UK, Nissan says the 375bhp coupe is a ‘Club Special’ built for the hill climb at the upcoming Goodwood Festival of Speed (starts Friday, folks) that’s still comfortable enough to use as a daily driver. The Japanese car maker has also dropped some fairly unsubtle hints that the one-off supercharged coupe could make series production…

Bolt on a turbo or supercharger, big wheels and some aero addenda. Then sit back and relax as the deposit checks flow in. That appears to be Nissan’s plan for a pair of high performance concepts due to be shown at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in early July. Based on existing Nissan models, the Murano GT-C packs 350bhp turbocharged ponies, while the 350Z GT-S sings a supercharged 380bhp tune. Nissan says both cars could make production in limited numbers if the public reaction is riotous enough…

GM is struggling because it doesn’t make cars customers want. Not exactly a controversial spin on GM’s current predicament. But still something of an eyebrow tweaker when spewed forth from the mouth of a senior suit at a rival firm. In this case, Nissan Motor Co. Senior Vice President Shiro Nakamura…

Here’s one we missed last week. Nissan has announced a package of upgrades for the 2006 350Z. Both the coupe and roadster variants of the popular Japanese sportster will hum to the tune of 20 extra horsepower, matching the limited edition Anniversary model launched earlier this year.

There’s not much wrong with Nissan’s wonderful 350 Z. The rear drive chassis is relatively sophisticated and certainly involving. The V6 is meaty, gutsy and characterful. The styling tough, chiselled but thoroughly modern. And most importantly, the asking price is ridiculously reasonable. There’s very little that comes close for the money. But a little more power wouldn’t do it any harm. Apparently, that’s exactly what it’s getting in the form of a stonking 4.5-litre V8. Sounds almost too good to be true…

A new GT-R, a pretty rear-drive coupe and a batshit electric car concept. Business as usual for Nissan at this year’s Tokyo show.
