2007 Wrangler: Familiar style, new form factor

No official technical deets, as yet. But the first images of Jeep’s new four-door Wrangler have hit the deck. A predictable, if fairly pleasing new take on the classic Willys Jeep, we think you’ll agree. For the record this is the first four-door Wrangler and comes complete with an impressively awful looking interior with plastics which appear to have been beamed through the ether from the early 1980s…Power is expected to come from the same 3.8-litre 205bhp V6 as the three-door model.

Detroit debut: Jeep Wrangler

This is it, folks. The all new Jeep Wrangler. Yes, it really is all new, so no arguments please. As well as the blink-and-you’ve-missed-it new body styling, other carry-over features from previous Wranglers include detachable doors, a folding windscreen, separate wheel arch covers, the clip-on hard top plus soft top roof combo and exposed hinges and latches. As for chassis upgrades, don’t get any fancy independent-suspension ideas. The new Wrangler not only retains the off-road cred of its iconic predecesors, but also their crude but effective solid axles, front and rear.

Wrangler doubles up

Following the Jeep Gladiator concept shown at Detroit early this year, rumour had it the next-gen Wrangler would be considerably wider and longer than the existing model. Most significantly, it was suggested a four-door model would join the line up for the first time. Judging by these heavy-disguise, body-clad spyshots, rumour had it just right.
