Jag-fighter squared?
“Jaguar fighter” was how Mercedes-Benz insiders imagined the super-slinky four-door coupe, the CLS. So, what does that make this possible four-door Audi coupe, as rumoured by German rag Auto Motor und Sport? Jag-fighter once removed? Whatever, it’s expected to launch some time in 2009…
A M & S reckon the car will wear a A7 badge, which suggests a platform shared with the A6 saloon. There’s also scope for a bit of underpinnings lurve with VW’s own rumoured four-door coupe, not to mention potential for some classic VW Group sales cannibalisation. In the mean time, Audi fans can not only look forward to the R8 mid-engined supercar later this year, but also the Nuvolari-inspired A5 coupe, due out at the end of 2007.
A year and a half on, the CLS remains an outrageous looker
