Audi prices up S6

Lambo-derived V10 and all-wheel-drive for under £60k
Gentlemen, start your wallets. Audi has released UK pricing for the S6 saloon and estate, yours for £55,330 and £56,600 respectively. While the all-round quality of the drive remains an unknown, that monumental V10 is very unlikely to disappoint. Even if, at 429bhp, it’s down to the tune of 20bhp on the S8’s own Lambo-derived V10 and by around 70bhp on BMW’s ten-pot magnum opus in the M5.
Still, however you slice it, this is an awful lot of car for your cash. M5 fun starts at more than £62,000, while an entry-level Porker 911 offers a lot less metal, and arguably less prestige (for the car-addicted cognoscenti, at least) for £58,000. And lest ye forget, along with that 5.2-litre V10, the S6 heaves with kit including rear-biased all-wheel-drive, 19-inch alloys, a semi-auto gearbox and more leather and Alcantara than you can shake an overpaid, middle aged executive at.
For the record, the S6 hits 62mph in 5.2 clicks and steams on to a governed 155mph (though if history serves, Audi has probably taken a flexible view to exactly how fast 155mph really is…). Deliveries kick off in July.
Update:
One little item we missed from the press release first time round: The S6 tips the scales at a slightly silly 1,910kg. BMW’s M5, FYI, rocks the autobahn with 1,830kg, while Audi’s own S8 is around 1,940kg. The original S8 weighed in at just 1,675kg. Closer to a BMW M3 than these behemoths. Food for thought…
