New Miura, Espada and LM00x under the airbrush
German rag Autobild just keeps cranking out the cg-rendered artist’s impressions of Lamborghini’s upcoming models. To the new-age Espada and LM 00x photochops, you can now add a next-gen Miura.
Rumoured details of this evocative reborn trio have been doing the rounds in recent weeks. US site InsideLine reckons the new Miura could appear as early as next year. Confusingly, InsideLine also suggests the car will be based on Audi’s upcoming Le Mans mid-engine road racer and pack a massive 6.5-litre, 700bhp V12. But since the Le Mans itself is closely related to Lambo’s own Gallardo, this seems a slightly garbled rumour to say the very least. Perhaps the Gallardo’s chassis will be the starting point for all future mid-engine Lambos.
If the new Miura is just around the corner, the other two are much further out. Powered by either a 4.2-litre, 400bhp supercharged V8 (very likely an Audi unit) or the familiar 5.0-litre Lamorghini V10, again supercharged and retuned for off-road use, the LM 00x SUV won’t appear until 2008. As for the new Espada 2+2 GT car, it’s little more than a glint in the eye of Lamborghini head of design, Luc Donckerwolke. If it does indeed make production, it won’t be before 2009.
Hop on over to Autobild to check out the full gallery which includes some choice shots of the classic Miura, Espada and LM 002 models. If Lamborghini can reproduce the drama of those cars, there will be much rejoicing.
