BMW mangles M5 manual?

Clutch-related compromise
As we reported back in November, Stateside public demand has forced BMW to backtrack on its original decision not to offer the M5 supersaloon with a triple pedal, stick twiddling transmission (though European and British buyers remain stuck with the robot box as the only option). However, justification for BMW’s reluctance has now emerged courtesy of a report suggesting that the US-only manual M5 suffers from excessive axle tramp…
According to Car Magazine, BMW was unable to eliminate axle tramp on the new manual derivative without the aid of the car’s DSC stability and traction control system. Consequently, it will not be possible to fully disable DSC on manual M5’s. Needless to say, this is hardly the kind of restriction buyers demanding a full-manual M5 will welcome.
