Gormless gob for pint-sized Pug
It’s hardly a surprise. But it’s still disappointing to see Peugeot’s gormless new corporate-grille-plus-slanty-eye-headlight visage grafted onto the upcoming 207.
While it’s not clear where the picture on the Hollywood Extra weblog comes from, it does seem to depict a near production-ready 207. And it’s obvious the new car won’t be winning any beauty contests. Still, in placing all its car-styling eggs in one basket, Peugeot is doing nothing more than mimicking the likes of Audi and Seat, who’ve both recently switched to a mono-grilled design ethic of dubious merit.
In short, many manufacturers have clearly decided that having a strong corporate identity is more desirable than making good-looking cars. But are they right? The new 207 will debut at the Geneva motor show in March.
