Slots in as coupe variant in next A4 line-up
Nobody delivers on its show car promises quite like Audi. The TT coupe was the original concept-car-made-reality stunner. Now it looks like all three of the German outfit’s 2003 show cars will be built. First off is the Pikes Peak offroader, due to appear in showrooms as the Q7 SUV by early next year. The awesome Le Mans mid-engine sportster has likewise been given the green light. Completing the puzzle, US website Edmunds reports that the delectable Nuvolari coupe concept has also been cleared for production.
Due out in 2007, the Nuvolari will slot in as the coupe variant of the next A4 range. Apart from the boost it will give the A4, the move has to be bad news for BMW: the 3 Series coupe will no longer be free to mop up the compact premium coupe sector virtually uncontested. Here’s hoping Audi follows the precedent it set with the TT and doesn’t dilute the Nuvolari in the transition to production reality.
