More power than you can possibly imagine

US site Inside Line has the skinny on a pimped-out version of Mercedes’ slinky CLS. In short, M-B has decided to drop the six-litre twin-turbo 12 cylinder mill from the S-Class into this E-Class-based four door coupe. So that’s over 600 turbo ponies (and God-knows how much torque), probably marshalled by the firm’s upcoming seven-speed torque converter slushbox. While this may make for the ultimate point-and-squirt luxo-barge you have to wonder how much more effective it will be than the existing CLS 55. Especially considering Inside Line reckon the 65 will command a $50k price premium stateside. One for the US market, we think. Expect a PR launch at Frankfurt this September with sales following a few months later.
