Crossover concept near production-ready?
Everybody who’s absolutely anybody has a crossover vehicle on their
stand at Detroit this year. Audi’s take on the automotive industry’s
latest cash cow is the Roadjet concept. It’s billed as a pure show car,
but Audi has confirmed that a “similar vehicle” will be in series
production “soon”. Do not, therefore, spray your cornflakes all over
the breakfast table if a near-identical production car appears in your
morning paper in the next 18 months.
Technical highlights for the concept include an overall size that’s in between the A4 and A6, a naturally aspirated 3.2-litre V6 wound out to 300bhp and 236lb/ft, the usual Quattro four-wheel drive kit, a naught to 60 time of 6.3 seconds and an electrochromatic windscreen which replaces sun visors with adjustable windscreen opacity. Well, what else did you expect?
