Ferrari goes live with 620bhp 599 GTB

F600 by another name

We’re not sure if this is all part of Ferrari’s masterplan or whether picture leakage in recent days forced its hand. But Fezza has come clean on its new flagship front-engined coupe. Previously labelled as the F600, the new car will be known as the 599 GTB. It’ll be shown for the first time in Geneva at the end of Feb. And it’ll rock with no less than 620bhp.

The 599’s 6.0-litre V12 is a mildly detuned version of the Enzo supercar’s 6.0-litre bent 12 and produces that 620bhp total at 7,600rpm. For the record, the Enzo hammers out 660bhp at 7,800rpm. But with a relatively modest 1,612kg kerb weight, the 599 will be horribly, painfully quick. How quick, exactly? As yet, figures haven’t been released. But try this power to weight ratio for size: 385bhp per tonne. Plums.

More details as we get 'em, but here’s another look at that, umm, interesting styling. You gotta love those wheels. Not.
