$100,000 in-house effort
Best known for penning the BMW Z8 and Astons DB9 and V8 Vantage, blonde and billowy car designer Henrik Fisker is planning on taking his eponymous Fisker Coachbuild company to the next level by building car based on an in-house chassis…

The Mercedes SL-based Fisker Tramonto
As we reported back in September, Fisker Coachbuild’s current cars are essentially deft reskins of Merc’s SL roadster and BMW’s 6 Series coupe. The result is a rather compelling combo of rock solid German engineering and bespoke styling. However, following the successful delivery of the first Latigo CS and Tramonto models, the company has now announced plans to accelerate the introduction of a new $100,000 car based on a proprietary chassis design. To that end, Fisker is currently courting investors in order to drum up funds to develop the new car (call Fisker on +1 949-274-8558 if you fancy donating to the cause…).

Of course, given the $213,000 to $315,000 list price of Fisker’s existing offerings, it’s not entirely clear how a large investment in a purpose built chassis will translate into a cheaper vehicle. However, Fisker does plan on ramping up production for the new car to 400 units. The Latigo and Tramonto are capped at just 150 a pop.
There’s no word on any tech specs, drivetrain details or specific launch dates, but Fisker has divulged that the new car will make its debut at the Geneva Motor Show early next year.
