Not long for this world…
Jaguar’s aging, Lincoln LS-derived S-Type saloon has received a buff job for its final year on sale. Apart from the usual cosmetic tweaks, the big news is a major overhaul / simplification of the engine range and some serious price cuts. The most significant changes are the deletion of all naturally-aspirated V8 models and an enormous £5k price drop on the supercharged S-Type R…

Styling changes include the addition of the S-Type R bumper and mesh grille treatment for every car in the range. 17-inch wheels are also now standard on even the cheapest S-Types, while SE models receive 18-inchers and the supercharged R gets 19-inch rims. The interior has likewise been upgraded, with all models now fully lined in dead cow as standard.
What’s more, the smorgasbord of run-out freebies extends to the drivetrain. Jag’s six-speed slushbox is now gratis even on entry-level models.

For the record, the base 3.0-litre petrol and 2.7-litre twin-turbo diesel models are now £1,000 cheaper at £28,995 and £29,995 respectively, while the S-Type R is yours for just £45,000 on the nose. The order books are already open.
Meanwhile…Despite impending catastrophe onboard the Ford mothership, Jaguar is still expected to unveil the all new XF mid-sized saloon next year…
