Superstar or dour Scotsman?

US comic, host of the Tonight Show and all round car nut Jay Leno has been let loose in the Rolls Royce 100EX show car. It turns out Leno himself used to wield tools for Rolls Royce (kinda).

In an article for the Times, Leno gets an exlcusive drive in the 100EX on the mean streets of L.A. (well, Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills). The story also reveals that before Leno made it big as a nightclub comedian and then as a purveyor of high class cheese on NBC’s Tonight Show, he did a stint as a Rolls Royce salesman in NYC. Oh, and the fact that his mother is a thrifty Scotswoman. Overall, Leno digs the 16 cylinder, 700bhp drop-top concept, but says he’s far too modest to buy one when the production model is released. We’ll resist the temptation to make any further mention of tools.
