No, really…
That’s right, folks. The creative geniuses at Lexus Towers have come up with a brilliant single-letter designation for the brand’s new performance division. It’s the letter ‘F’, and it simply stands for ‘fast’…
According to industry rag Automotive News, the first Lexus F-car will be a V8-powered version of the compact IS saloon, allegedly packing the full 425bhp-ish hybrid drivetrain from the LS600h luxury limo. If the Automotive News report is accurate, it’s a clever move by Lexus. Using a hybrid drivetrain guarantees Lexus F-cars will offer a unique selling proposition, regardless of whether they match the usual German-made opposition in terms of pace or chassis dynamics.
The IS-F is expected to be unveiled at the Detroit motor show next month. Several other models in the Lexus range are also likely to get the F-bomb treatment.
