More engines for Audi Q7

V6 petrol, V8 diesel and hybrid on the way
Spare a thought for those pondering the purchase of an Audi Q7. The
poor darlings currently have only a 3.0-litre V6 oil burner and a
4.2-litre petrol eight to choose from. And according to Audi, they have
so little imagination, 85 per cent of them will plump for the diesel.
But fret ye not. More engines are on the way.
Whatcar.com brings us the not exactly earth shattering revelation that Audi will soon fill out the Q7 range with further engine options. Diesel fanciers will welcome the addition of Audi’s 4.2-litre turbocharged derv drinker, while a 3.6-litre petrol V6 (presumably a bored out version of Audi’s wide-angle six) brings symmetry to the range. Now you can choose V6 or V8 engines in both petrol and diesel configs.
While these new lumps should be available early next year, the much anticipated hybrid Q7 is a little further out. Don’t expect the petrol-electric based on the 4.2-litre V8 until 2008.
For the record the Q7 is big, it’s kinda fugly and it’s on sale now with a starting price of £37,285.
