More Porsche Panamera prototype snaps

It ain’t pretty
Following last week’s initial Porsche Panamera test mule outing, more detailed images of the car have emerged. The new snaps confirm that the core architecture of the car caught testing appears very likely to be that of the final production vehicle…
Hop on over to The CarConnection for the full set of Brenda Priddy and Co Nurburgring high res spy shots. Suffice to say for now that the Panamera is shaping up to be an extremely conservative design – the vehicle is more slightly-swoopy conventional saloon à la Lexus GS than sleek four-foor coupe as per Mercedes CLS. Oh, and for what it’s worth, Porsche head honcho Wendelin Wiedeking let slip in an interview just days ago that the Panamera had indeed begun testing at the ‘Ring. The latest rumours suggest that power for the Panamera will come courtesy of a VW-sourced 3.5-litre six knocking out around and 300bhp and a development of Porsche’s own V8, as fitted to the Cayenne SUV, in 350bhp-ish naturally aspirated and 550bhp-plus twin turbo trim.
The Panamera’s on-sale date is pencilled in for 2009.
