Rear-drive sportster announced
The Geneva motor show is still six seeks away, but the build up starts here. GM’s European flunkies over at Opel have released this teaser shot of a new sports car due to debut at Geneva. Opel may be cashing in on the new GT’s relationship with the 1965 original, but we fancy it has more in common with GM’s Kappa compact rear-drive platform, as used for the Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky roadsters.

Reborn GT? The original Opel GT was shown at the Frankfurt show in '65
Indeed, the shape under the sheet looks very similar, if not identical, to a Saturn Sky with an added roof. But however the Opel GT’s styling turns out, some official technical details have been divulged. Power will come from a direct injection turbo four and thanks to that Kappa platform will be delivered to the rear wheels. No word as yet on a possible Vauxhall version for the UK.
