22-inch plates and plenty of poke for RR Sport
A two-tonne SUV that cracks the zero-60 sprint in under six seconds? Deeply irresponsible some would say. Naughty but really rather nice, we reckon. Whatever, it’s a phenomenon set to become commonplace in the near future. Of course, Porsche’s Cayenne Turbo already delivers the goods, but not everyone can stomach the gloopy styling or shared VW underpinnings.
The Range Rover Sport , on the other hand, offers a classier, more discreet alternative. However, even with a super-charged 4.2-litre V8 it can’t compete with the mighty Porsche for pure pace. Until now. UK based Rangie-fettler Overfinch is preparing to crank up that Jaguar-sourced V8 to 500bhp. Bung in suitably bling 22-inch wheels and a six-speed auto box and we fancy this could be the car to be seen cruising the bad lands of South Central L.A.. The first cars should be available in the second half of 2005.
