Soft-turbo Pug yours for £14k
Peugeot UK has come clean with pricing and tech specs for the upcoming 207 GT warm hatch. The new model’s 1.6-litre turbocharged lump packs 150bhp and 180lb/ft and is the product of a joint venture between PSA Peugeot Citroen and BMW. Codenamed Prince, the all-alloy unit benefits from a number of BMW’s most advanced engine technologies including Valvetronic variable valve timing (limited to the intake valves) and direct injection and will soon be finding its way into the second gen BMW Mini…
Getting back on message with the 207 GT, Peugeot has yet to release performance figures. However, the “GT” designation and the car’s 1,200kg-plus kerb weight both suggest effortless cruiser rather than bombastic hot hatch. For the latter, you’ll have to wait for the full-on 207 GTi, powered by an uprated version of the very same turbocharged unit and expected to appear before the end of 2006.

The 207 GT goes on sale this November, sports 17-inch rims, a panoramic glass roof and air con as standard and is yours for the piffling price of £14,345. Engine aficionados among you can sally forth to the PSA website to get down and dirty with the full tech specs of the new engine.
