Peugeot’s potty 908 RC concept

Crazy Le Mans-powered carbon contraption
A carbon chassis and a rear-mounted, wide-angle V12 turbo diesel kicking out 700bhp. Oh, and a top speed in excess of 300kph. Call us a bunch of weather-beaten, cynical old hacks. But if Peugeot ever builds anything that even remotely resembles this new diesel powered super-saloon concept we’ll happily guzzle the contents of a worn out Halfords car battery, circa 1984.

According to Peugeot, “The raison d’être of any concept car is to explore new ideas and to test those ideas in an attempt to create the ultimate solution.” Well, possibly. But we’re still not sure which aspect of the 908 RC Peugeot reckons is a realistic goer for the future.

Still, the car’s power plant is of genuine interest. The V12 HDi DPFS will power Peugeot’s assault on the Le Mans 2007 title. Along with that 700bhp figure, the engine cranks out a slightly silly 884lb/ft. And no doubt features from the 908 RC’s rather Maybach Exelero-aping styling vibe will tip up on more mundane production Peugeots in years to come.
The 908 RC will be shown publicly at the Paris Motor Show at the end of September.

the peugeot 908 series is nothing beyond my element of imagination. it is an articulate of the mastery of design. A feather touch to the already perfected art in the brand. goshh this is a breathless experience without literally riding it out of my imagination........
