A 4.5-litre, twin-turbo, 450bhp off-roader is not enough for people. Apparently, what they really want is a 4.5-litre, twin-turbo 521bhp off-roader. And who is Porsche to deny them. Make way for the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S.
An extra 71 brake horsies. A total of 531lb/ft. Zero to 100kph (that’s 62.5mph in old money) in 5.2 seconds. 20-inch SportTechno wheels. Fat tail pipes. And as ugly and pointless as every other Cayenne. That, in a nutshell, is the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S, launched yesterday.
For those who care, Porsche has rustled up those 71 extra ponies courtesy of some intercooler tweaks. Arguably more impressive is the fact that even this highly-tuned variant of Porsche’s bent eight is capable of running safely with the vehicle tilted at fully 45 degrees, both laterally and longitudinally. The Cayenne may be naff, but it still boasts bona fide off-road credentials. Among other technical improvements are bigger brake discs, now a colossal 385mm up front.
The Cayenne Turbo S is yours for a piffling £81,565 and goes on sale 25th Feb. And not a day sooner. That is all.
