Carrera GT sales top the 1,000 mark
It’s official. The Carrera GT supercar is the “most successful high-performance sports car of all time”. Of course, the definition of a “high-performance sports car” is flexible at best. So, it’s a pretty nebulous claim. But Porsche’s announcement that the 1,111th GT was delivered to a customer yesterday certainly proves the car is a resounding success.
Even more impressively, Porsche claims the GT hasn’t just buffed the company’s aura as a halo product, it’s also added to the bottom line. “Porsche has made money with the Carrera GT. In this respect, this sports car has also been an economic success for our company, as expected," Porker’s head honcho Wendelin Wiedeking crooned.
Incidentally, if you fancy a GT direct from Porsche, you’re too late. Production ends in April 2006 and all cars are spoken for.
