Retro concept will be built, after all

Were reports of the demise of the Miura concept’s production prospects greatly exaggerated? So it seems, according to a recent article in AutoExpress mag. Lamborghini’s head honcho Stephan Winklemann verily did spake upon the subject of Lambo’s future product plans. They’re gonna build an SUV. And the Miura concept will be made after all.

Previous no-go reports on the Miura centred around a lack of production capacity. But it seems Lambo has received enough positive feedback from prospective customers to turn that decision around. AutoExpress says a limited production run is now likely, though the mag does not attribute that statement directly to Winklemann, so the usual grain of salt applies.

More certain, however, is the upcoming SUV, which Winklemann reckons is Lamborghini’s number one priority and “a better option than a 2+2.” As Winklemann points out, parent company Audi has the Q7 ready and waiting for an Italian makeover job. Expect a concept in 2007 and a production vehicle the following year.
