Saab tarts up 9-3

Due out later this year, these are the first official images of the facelifted Saab 9-3. At least, that’s what they purport to be. And frankly, a mildly tweaked 9-3 isn’t something you’d expect anyone would bother to fake. So, we’ll give these leaked snaps the benefit of the doubt…

Of course, what the 9-3 really needs, and certainly deserves, is a set of new underpinnings. And preferably not derived from GM’s Epsilon  platform, a chassis developed primarily for the Vauxhall / Opel Vectra. Fat chance.

In the meantime, the revised 9-3 will have to make do with the new ethanol-fuelled E85 BioPower engine and an upgraded all-wheel-drive option complete with electronic differential. Cue much rejoicing.
