The Geneva preview smorgasbord begins

Due to make its official debut at the Geneva Motorshow in March, this is the Skoda’s latest Fabia hatchback. The new entry level model picks up where the Skoda Roomster left off, stylistically, and will be offered with a range of seven familiar VW group engines, initially maxxing out at around 105bhp…

Full tech specs have yet to be released, however Skoda has predictably divulged that the Fabia Mark II is slightly bigger than the previous model at 3992mm in length, making it one of the largest cars in its class and ensuring more front and rear passenger accomodation. Boot space swells to 300 litres.

Other highlights include head airbags all round, an optional six-cog Tiptronic auto box, integrated Bluetooth support for mobile phones and a standard MP3 player / iPod interface. Not to shabby for a budget hatch, therefore.

Skoda has confirmed that Estate and saloon variants of the new Fabia are also on the cards.
