VW to build Porsche Panamera body shells
It’s official. Apparently. VW will knock out the body shells for the upcoming Porsche Panamera four-door coupe.
According to a German press report, VW has officially announced that fully welded and painted Panamera bodies will be built at its Wolfsburg plant in Germany and then shipped for final assembly at Porsche’s facility in Liepzig, in the former East Germany. It’s probably the first of many such announcements following Porsche’s recent acquisition of a large minority stake in VW. However, don’t get too excited. Production of the Panamera isn’t expected to start until 2009. Nevertheless, a concept previewing the Panamera is likely to be shown at the Geneva motorshow in March. And Newswheel will be there with our wide angles to bring you pictures as soon as the wraps come off.
