Folding hard-top fun for less than £17k
Oh yes, it’s cheaper than its closest rivals. But not by much. The new folding hard-top equipped Astra Twintop can be yours for just £16,995. For that you get the base Twintop with a rather lethargic 1.6-litre petrol mill…
Peugeot, by contrast will do you a 1.6-litre 307 CC for £17,100, while the 1.6 Megane Coupe-Cabriolet from Renault is yours for the relative ransom of £17,610. You pays your money. You takes your choice. Frankly, we could think of at least 127 better ways to drop £17k. But if you’re a user-chooser, you fancy some al fresco fun and you couldn’t care less about driving dynamics, well, be our guest.
The Twintop is also available with Vauxhall’s new 138bhp variable valve-timed 1.8-litre petrol unit, as well as a 148bhp 2.0-litre diesel lump (yuck) and the range-topping 200bhp petrol turbo-four. Get ‘em while they’re luke warm.
