Volvo XC90 updates

Blink and you’ve missed ‘em
Move along folks, nothing to see here. Well, not much new, anyway. Volvo has unsheathed its tweaked 2007 model year XC90 SUV. And it ain’t exactly revolutionary. The list of near-invisible incremental updates includes new headlights, a dash of body coloured cladding and a slice of improved plastics quality inside. In fact, the only item of real interest is the addition of Volvo’s fancy pants compact 3.2-litre straight-six.
Assuming the same level of tune as seen in Volvo’s elegant new S80 saloon, the new six will produce 235bhp. The existing Yamaha-sourced 315bhp 4.4-litre V8 remains. And hell, if you must crush concrete with a premium SUV, the XC90 remains arguably the most elegant and least socially offensive of the lot. This is as close as you’re going to get to a thinking man’s sport-ute. Purely in the interests of completeness, therefore, and should any of you be hardcore Volvo fetishists, we give you the slightly new XC90 (pricing, on sale dates and all that jazz to follow…):
